Revisiting the Green Awards 2026 earlier this year, APC and VLE Therapeutics has been named winner of the Green Medium Sized Organisation of the Year award, recognised for a sustainability programme that demonstrated real capability, measurable progress, and a forward-looking vision grounded in science-based targets and high-quality data across every dimension of its environmental performance.

The award, announced on 24 February 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, reflects an organisation with an ambitious goal of becoming Ireland's most sustainable pharma company and a clear, structured programme working toward it.

At the centre of APC and VLE Therapeutics' approach is the BeGreen Team, a dedicated internal function that drives sustainability across key pillars including employee engagement, waste and utility management, green lab practices, and audit readiness. Backed by strong leadership and a governance structure that gives the programme institutional credibility, the team has created the conditions for environmental stewardship to become a shared organisational value rather than a top-down directive.

Thoughtful innovation has played an important role in the programme's success. The development of digital tools to support correct waste sorting demonstrates an organisation applying practical problem-solving to one of sustainability's most persistent behavioural challenges, while meaningful employee engagement and local community action extend the programme's impact beyond the organisation's own operations.

Judges were clear on what distinguished the submission. "With a strong governance structure, science-based targets, and high-quality data, the organisation demonstrated real capability and commitment. Thoughtful innovation, including digital tools to support correct waste sorting, was matched by meaningful employee engagement and local community action. Together, these efforts highlight a medium-sized organisation delivering confident progress, measurable impact, and a forward-looking approach to sustainability," the panel stated.

The Green Medium Sized Organisation of the Year recognises organisations with between 51 and 250 employees that have implemented a green strategy designed to reduce their environmental impact, backed by measurable outcomes, year-on-year comparisons, and a clearly defined plan for future sustainability progress.

As the Green Awards near their two-decade milestone, APC and VLE Therapeutics joins a cohort of winners demonstrating that medium-sized organisations, when driven by genuine ambition and rigorous measurement, can deliver sustainability progress that punches well above their weight.
