The future of solar power depends on scalable, cost-effective storage—and Moonwatt is delivering just that. The Amsterdam-based startup has secured €8 million to fast-track its sodium-ion battery system, an innovation that could solve solar’s biggest bottleneck: its inability to provide round-the-clock power.

Unlike lithium-based solutions designed for EVs, Moonwatt’s technology is purpose-built for solar, offering a 1000x more abundant, 3x cheaper, and safer alternative. By integrating storage directly with solar plants, the company aims to boost capacity factors from 15-20% to 80%, stabilising energy prices while slashing grid congestion.

With backing from top investors and a team of former Tesla Energy experts, Moonwatt’s breakthrough could make 24/7 renewable power a reality—unlocking massive value for operators and reshaping the global energy landscape.
