Alternative Energy Ireland (AEI), operating within the Wewise ecosystem, has partnered with Adare Manor, a five-star hotel in Co. Limerick, to implement a strategic renewable energy project aimed at reducing operational emissions and advancing sustainability in the hospitality sector.

The collaboration delivered a 60 kWp solar PV system designed to save approximately 15 tonnes of CO₂e annually, with an anticipated six-year payback period. The project also included the installation of electric vehicle chargers, supporting the adoption of low-carbon transport for both staff and guests, and aligning operational practices with environmental responsibility.

Adare Manor’s 840-acre estate presents high energy demands due to extensive on-site facilities and electric heat pumps across the hotel and golf course. By incorporating clean energy solutions, the project significantly mitigates electricity consumption and contributes to the hotel’s broader corporate sustainability targets.

AEI and Wewise’s initiative provides a measurable business case for integrating renewable energy into hospitality operations. The project demonstrates how operational decarbonisation can deliver tangible returns while enhancing brand reputation and supporting corporate social responsibility commitments.

The solar installation and EV infrastructure also offer scalability and replicability for other hospitality businesses in Ireland, providing a model for embedding sustainability as part of long-term operational strategy. Beyond emissions reductions, the project enhances resilience against rising energy costs and supports a transition to cleaner energy sources in a sector with traditionally high electricity consumption.

By combining technical expertise with strategic energy planning, AEI and Wewise position themselves as partners capable of turning sustainability into a competitive advantage.
