Investment delays overshadow record optimism in Irish food and agribusiness

The latest sector report highlights rising costs as the most pressing challenge, with 80% of businesses feeling the squeeze. Sustainability has shifted from a fringe concern to a mainstream expectation, with 83% now fielding requests for sustainability data from customers. At the same time, AI adoption is accelerating: 77% use tools like ChatGPT, yet just 27% feel confident about the security and privacy risks.

Despite robust export performance and continued international growth, succession planning remains a glaring weakness. An unchanged 77% of business owners lack a clear plan, threatening long-term stability even as the sector generates €17 billion in exports.
