Cook Medical backs bold carbon cuts with €3m renewables push

Cook Medical is investing €3 million in a major renewables upgrade at its Limerick site, installing a 1MW solar array, 1.2MW of heat pumps, upgraded fans, and a new energy management system. The move is set to cut carbon emissions by 50% and natural gas use by 70%, while improving operational efficiency and reducing electricity imports by nearly a fifth.

This initiative will offset over 6,700 tonnes of carbon over 25 years, positioning Cook’s Irish operations as a model for sustainable manufacturing. It’s a strong signal that energy transition is not just about compliance—it’s a competitive advantage.
