CarbonFree has signed a Letter of Intent with Univar Solutions USA LLC to distribute endurocal®, a carbon-neutral calcium carbonate produced using captured industrial CO₂ and calcium from waste gases. The partnership marks a strategic step in reducing the environmental footprint of essential raw materials used across multiple industries.
Unlike conventionally mined calcium carbonate, endurocal® is manufactured through CarbonFree’s SkyCycle™ technology, which transforms waste emissions into high-purity minerals suitable for use in food, pharmaceuticals, and industrial goods. This process avoids the ecological costs of mining while producing a material with superior brightness and consistency.
Univar Solutions, one of the world’s largest specialty ingredient distributors, will leverage its supply network to scale market access across North America. By linking CarbonFree’s carbon-capture innovation with Univar’s logistics and customer reach, the partnership could reshape how sustainable minerals are sourced and distributed.
Kelly Gilroy, Univar’s Vice President of Commercial Sustainability, said customers increasingly demand materials that balance performance with environmental responsibility. The agreement allows Univar to deliver on both fronts while supporting industry-wide carbon-reduction goals.
CarbonFree CEO Martin Keighley highlighted the broader economic benefit, noting that American manufacturers want viable, domestic alternatives to imported minerals. The collaboration aims to supply those needs cost-effectively, ensuring resilience in material sourcing while supporting decarbonisation targets.
The initiative aligns with the wider push toward circular manufacturing, positioning carbon-neutral minerals as a practical route to meet net-zero commitments. Through shared technical support and coordinated marketing, CarbonFree and Univar intend to accelerate adoption of greener inputs across production sectors.
